| Necessary Supplies |
| BRINGING HOME YOUR NEW PUPPY You will need the following supplies for the car ride home: Metal or plastic crate (a medium sized crate should fit in most cars and will be an appropriate size to begin housebreaking), adjustable collar and leash (9-12 inch collar), a bath size towel, a roll of paper towels, toys (appropriate for large breed dogs - not plastic squeaky toys), a bowl to offer a drink of water if your ride will be more than two hours long. Other supplies you will need to have available for your puppy's arrival home: bowls for food and water (stainless steel or ceramic), a water bottle to attach to the crate (a rabbit size bottle is good), puppy food (your puppy will be used to eating "Eukanuba", the growth formula for minis/mediums and the large breed formula for standards), and baby gates if you wish to confine your puppy to certain rooms. You should make an appointment with the vet of your choosing within 5 days of your puppies arrival. A slicker brush and a rake are appropriate brushes for the regular grooming necessary to keep your dog's coat from matting. Bell training is an effective way to teach your puppy to ask out. By hanging a bell at the door and taking the puppy's nose to ring it and then immediately opening the door, the puppy quickly learns to ring the bell to ask out. Here is a link to buy the bells: www.twobelles.net You will receive with your puppy: record of deworming and vaccinations, warranty, puppy care tips, list of poisonous foods for dogs, copies of both parents' pedigrees and their health clearances, letter from exam by vet, application to register your puppy with GANA (www.GoldendoodleAssociation.com), application to register your puppy's microchip with AVID, and a blanket with the litters' scent. |
